Father's Day

I'm a day off. Part of me loves that it's already Monday night, but part of me is going crazy that my brain is operating like it's Sunday night. You see, we went up to the condo this weekend and added a bonus day, not driving back home until this evening. Compounding the confusion in my brain is the fact that we didn't drive up there until Saturday morning. So it was still a 2-night "weekend" at the condo. None-the-less, we had a great time with beautiful weather. The scenery didn't disappoint, either, with lush, bright greens coloring the valleys leading your gaze up to still-snow-covered peaks. And the wildflowers are in bloom!

More than once over the weekend I was thankful that we're moving to another mountainous region. I don't know what I'd do if I couldn't live among the peaks!

We did it up in standard Shertzer style, playing hard but with plenty of time for R&R. We did some running, roller skiing, hiking, biking, and then some more biking. But really, the weekend was a celebration of one very special, very loved Daddy.

After getting his smiling son out of bed, changing his diaper, and getting him dressed, this awesome Dad was right on the floor playing along with both of his kiddos (the human and canine variety!) on Sunday morning.

Then, we set off on a hike along Lake Granby with Dad carrying the precious cargo.

(check out Maggie's mid-stride ear flop. . . so cute!)

I messed around with my timer and actually got a photo with all 3 of us!

Hayden loved the ride. He was always peering over Rich's left shoulder to get a better view down the trail.

We returned to the condo for naptime (and not just for Hayden!). After we rejuvenated, we hoped on our bikes and rode into Winter Park for dinner at Dad's choice (and one of our local favorites), The Sushi Bar. We dined al fresco, enjoying the gorgeous weather. Hayden pointed out all of the trucks and kids and dogs and birds and bikes that he saw, which seemed to hold his attention long enough for us to enjoy our Spicy Hamachi, Winter Park, and Screaming O rolls. Yum!

A day filled with our favorite things, to celebrate our favorite Dad! (well, Hayden's grandpa's are pretty good, too, even if we couldn't celebrate in person with them!)

Happy Father's Day! Looks like you had a really fun time. Does Rich get off balance when Hayden wants to check out the view and looks over his shoulder like that? That is a great photo of you three!
