Chinese New Year

This year in Kindergarten, the kids did an entire week's worth of cool activities in celebration of Chinese New Year.  Hayden came home with papers where learned to write the numbers 1-10 in Chinese characters, they made lanterns and new year banners, and the class even made their very own dragon!

In fact, each of the 7 kinder classes made a dragon and on Friday they had a huge celebration, parading around the courtyard with the New Year dragons!  Hayden got to carry the dragon head for his class. . .

Builder Ben

Benjamin is a builder.  He's loved legos and blocks forever and always seems to be putting something together.  We've got megablocks, lego bricks, trio blocks, wooden blocks and more. . .

When left to the playroom, Hayden will always go for the matchbox cars first.  Ben will always go for the building blocks.  I love to watch his imagination take over!

Disney's California Adventure!

When our Montana friends were in town visiting, we met up with them for a day at Disney's California Adventure.  Since we moved to L.A., we've been out to Disneyland 3 times, but never ventured across the sidewalk to DCA.  Well, this past summer Carsland opened in DCA and the boys were excited to check out Radiator Springs!

It was like stepping right into the movie!  The premier ride is Radiator Springs Racers -- and it did not disappoint!

But we also had a blast as life-size air hockey pucks on Luigi's Flying Tires!

We saw Lightning and Mater. . .

And had a little snack at the Cozy Cone Motel.

We also had a blast at Pacific Pier. . . meeting up with friends, having more snacks, on the Toy Story Arcade, Zeppelin, Goofy's Flying School and more!

The great thing about being at Disney with another family is that the adults can tag team some of the grown-up rides.  Rich and I got to ride the California Screamer together!

We saw the Toy Story toy soldiers. . .

The boys also really loved being Wilderness Explorers -- rock climbing, zip lining, and more to earn their badges.

Being Disney, there is of course good entertainment. . .

Overall, it was an awesome day and we can't wait to go back!
